# What Verbafy does: turn recordings into answers you can verify

A long video, podcast, or meeting recording can contain one quote, explanation, or decision that you need. Finding it should not require another hour of playback.

Verbafy turns existing media into text you can use. Give it a public YouTube video, a Spotify episode link, or a private audio or video file. It creates a readable Transcript with speakers and timestamps. You can search it, ask questions with citations, play the cited moments, and export the result.

[Start with 60 transcribed minutes per week.](/app)

## Start with the source you already have

You do not need to record inside Verbafy. Start with one of three sources:

- Paste an individual public [YouTube video](/youtube-to-text).
- Paste a canonical [Spotify episode](/spotify-to-text) link.
- Upload a private audio or video file, including an exported [meeting recording](/meeting-to-text).

Private uploads can be up to 10 GB. Supported formats include MP3, AAC, M4A, WAV, AIFF, FLAC, OGG, Opus, MP4, MOV, and MKV.

Guests can start without creating an account or entering a credit card. The Free Plan includes 60 transcribed minutes each week. Create an account later to keep working with the guest Transcripts.

## Get a Transcript made for reading

A raw speech-to-text file makes you do the organization yourself. Verbafy returns clean paragraphs, speaker separation, and clickable timestamps. It infers speaker names when the recording provides enough evidence. A name can remain generic or be wrong, so check it before you quote someone.

The Transcript follows regional speech and mixed-language conversation. Coverage includes 99+ languages, and optional Auto translate can create a translated view.

For a YouTube video with captions, a simple caption preview can appear while the enhanced Transcript is being prepared. You can compare the original captions with the enhanced, speaker-labeled version. If captions are missing, Verbafy can still [transcribe the audio](/blog/how-to-transcribe-a-youtube-video-without-captions).

## Find the part that matters

You can search the Transcript instead of scrubbing through the full recording. An overview and key points help you understand its shape. Cited Chat lets you ask a specific question after the Transcript has been indexed.

For example, suppose you have a one-hour interview and want to know why the guest rejected a proposed strategy. Ask the question in Cited Chat. A supported answer includes references to the relevant Transcript passages. Select a citation to play that moment in the original media.

The citation is important. It gives you a fast path back to the source instead of asking you to trust an isolated AI answer. Check names, numbers, quotations, and decisions against playback before you use them.

## Take the result into your next tool

The Transcript does not have to stay inside Verbafy. Every plan can download:

- TXT for plain text
- Markdown for notes and publishing workflows
- JSON for structured data
- SRT or VTT for subtitles
- ZIP for the complete export bundle

You can also copy text directly. Registered users can automate their own workflows through the documented REST API or Remote MCP. See [Developer resources](/developers) when you need programmatic access.

## Use the tool that fits the job

Verbafy is focused on understanding and reusing media that already exists. That clear boundary matters.

| Your job | Best fit |
| --- | --- |
| Capture a live call, attend meetings, or update a CRM | Use a meeting bot or meeting platform. |
| Cut, rearrange, or publish audio and video | Use a media editor. |
| Upload large batches as fast as possible | Use a bulk transcription service. |
| Review one source, find evidence, verify it, and export it | Use Verbafy. |

Verbafy does not join live calls, edit the source media, transcribe whole channels, or publish captions back to YouTube. The comparison pages explain the tradeoffs with [Otter](/compare/otter), [Notta](/compare/notta), [TurboScribe](/compare/turboscribe), and [Descript](/compare/descript).

## Accuracy should be checked, not assumed

No accuracy percentage guarantees the result for your recording. Accents, specialist terms, poor audio, similar voices, and overlapping speech can all affect a Transcript.

Verbafy publishes a checkable benchmark method instead of asking you to accept an unsupported marketing number. Read [how to evaluate transcription accuracy claims](/blog/how-to-evaluate-transcription-accuracy-claims), then use the timestamps to check the parts that matter.

## Try it with one real recording

Paste a public YouTube URL or Spotify episode link, or upload a file. Read the Transcript, ask one question, open the cited moment, and export the format you need.
