# Otter vs Verbafy

Choose Otter when you need notes during a live meeting. Choose Verbafy when you already have a recording, or want a transcript from a public YouTube video or Spotify episode. Verbafy does not join calls or record meetings.

This comparison is written by Verbafy. Competitor details were checked against [Otter's official plans](https://otter.ai/pricing) on 18 September 2026. It compares documented features, not results from a shared accuracy test.

## Start with how the recording is made

| Your task | Otter | Verbafy |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Take notes during a call | Live transcription and meeting support for Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet | Upload an existing recording after the call |
| Transcribe saved files | Supports audio and video imports, with limits by plan | Upload a private audio or video file within your minute allowance |
| Ask about meeting content | AI chat within and across meetings | Chat with one transcript and follow its citations |
| Download text | Basic includes TXT; paid plans add formats such as SRT | Every plan includes TXT, Markdown, JSON, SRT, VTT, and ZIP |

## Check file limits as well as minutes

Otter Basic includes 300 transcription minutes per month, up to 30 minutes per conversation, and three file imports over the account's lifetime. Pro lists 1,200 minutes per month, a 90-minute conversation limit, and ten file imports per month. Its standard monthly price is $16.99 per user. Annual billing and regional offers differ. See [Otter pricing](https://otter.ai/pricing).

Verbafy Free includes 60 transcribed minutes each week. Starter monthly costs $12 for 1,000 minutes; Pro monthly costs $24 for 3,000 minutes. Monthly paid plans have a three-day trial with a card on file for eligible accounts. See [pricing](/pricing) for trial limits and billing terms. All amounts here are USD.

If you have a folder of saved interviews, check the import count before choosing a plan. If you need notes while people are still speaking, choose a product with live capture.

## When to choose Verbafy

Use Verbafy for a recording you can already upload. For example, export a completed Teams meeting, upload the file, then review the speaker-separated transcript and download it for your notes. Files can be up to 10 GB, and the recording must fit your available transcription minutes.

You can also work from [public YouTube videos](/youtube-to-text) and [Spotify episode links](/spotify-to-text). These are individual submissions; Verbafy does not transcribe a whole channel or browse podcast shows.

## What should you check before relying on the transcript?

Speaker labels, names, and quoted numbers need review. Inferred names can be missing or wrong. Use a representative recording to judge the result, and read [how to evaluate accuracy claims](/blog/how-to-evaluate-transcription-accuracy-claims). For private recordings, review [data handling](/privacy) before uploading.

[Start with 60 transcribed minutes per week.](/app)
