# How to export a YouTube transcript as SRT or VTT

Use this when you need subtitle files from a public YouTube Transcript.

## Steps

1. Transcribe the public YouTube URL in [the app](/app).
2. Open the ready Transcript.
3. Download SRT or VTT. You can also download TXT, Markdown, JSON, or a ZIP bundle.

This does not publish captions back to YouTube. Timing follows transcript segments, not a word-level caption editor.
